Quick Post: About 2014

2014 had been generally a good year for me. I was able to learn new things about photography like tricks in iPhoneography. Thanks to passionate mobile photographers who are so generous to share their knowledge, unlike others who will push you to pay just for you to subscribe to their private videos. You know who they are, but in all fairness to them, they also spend time and money to produce those. But still, there are hundreds of videos available on YouTube and thousands of articles and blogs about photography.

I also became closer to my friends at work. We breathe the same air. Haha enough for that.

I won a smartphone from my network provider during their event last August, but my disappointment stays as their loyalty offer still remains unacceptable. Right now, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is being used by my mom. And I also won Php8,000.00 at a Bingo game during our Christmas party. Haha! Lucky!

My last purchase was the Sony Xperia Z3 two days before Christmas. I was impressed with the battery life and camera as marketed by Sony that’s why I bought it. But I’m somehow unsatisfied, I’ll blog about it.

And lately, I’ve been thinking about selling my two cameras: the Fujifilm X100S and the Sony A6000 with 16-50mm kit lens and a 55-210mm lens, just because I want to buy a Fujifilm X-T1.

Love life has been elusive, but I’m not complaining. Haha! I’m not even looking for one.

So for 2015, I’m looking forward to a major change. I won’t go into details but I already have a plan for my photography hobby, career and travel.

A Business Trip To Cebu City

I was asked to go to the Queen City of the South for a 12-day business trip. I was unprepared since they only advised me four days before my flight. The flight, airport-to-hotel transfer and the accommodation had been set. Not complaining. In fact, I like going to Cebu. It’s like home away from home.

I left the house at three in the morning of February 24th for my 0700H flight via Philippine Airlines. But I arrived at NAIA Terminal 2 an hour after. When I was checking in, the officer offered me a 0500H and 0600H flights. I declined since the car service in my destination will pick me up at 7-ish. So I stayed for too long waiting. Unfortunately for me, the flight was delayed, but it was just for about half an hour.

NAIA Terminal 2

I was excited and a bit scared at the same time since it was my first time to fly alone.

I tried hard to sleep but I can’t. I was awed by the beautiful soft clouds that surround my country.

I checked-in to my hotel, had a quick bath and went straight to the office where the Cebu team was waiting for my arrival.

Diamond Suites & Residences

I spent two weeks working there and was even extended for two additional days for some company event.

Cebu IT Park

The Walk
This block is just across the office. It houses several local restaurants where I mostly spent my time for lunch and dinner. It has Casa Verde which is known for its humongous back ribs, and Zubuchon with the best lechon ever according to Anthony Bourdain. I don’t eat pork though so I wouldn’t know.

Dolce Grill and Bar
This venue is one of the perfect spots for chilling out while enjoying desserts and tea.

Maya Mexican Restaurant
The place is located in Crossroads, just a few blocks away from IT Park and it offers good Mexican food and has a Greenbelt vibe.

Anzani Mediterranean Restaurant
For some fine dining experience, Anzani is the best place in Cebu. It was named as the Philippines’ Best Restaurant of 2013 by the Philippine Tatler.
They also have an underground cellar room filled with different wines from around the world.

Ayala Center Cebu
This is the first Ayala Shopping Center located outside Metro Manila. I could have gone to this place if only I didn’t do overtime work. It’s just a few steps away from the hotel.

Most of the time, I get to have realizations when I’m alone and far from my comfort zone.
“Over time, I learn to let go of what I once thought of life going to be. We should keep striving to make worthwhile decisions in life that will add value to who we are. Think less about the past and more about the future.”

I enjoyed my stay in Cebu! If given a chance, I would like to go back and take that opportunity to travel around and discover what the province of Cebu has to offer.

Quick Post: Cebu Trip

I was asked to go to Cebu for a 2-week business trip for one urgent business need that was just approved and discussed last Thursday. I’m excited and a bit worried at the same time since it’s my first time to fly and travel alone. I have no idea on hotel check-ins even if it has been arranged already. The hotel that I will be staying in for two weeks has a mix of bad and good reviews. I’m hoping for the latter.

Feb 24th, 1:16 AM – Awake for 14 hours now and my long day hasn’t started yet. A taxi will pick me up at 0300H going to NAIA Terminal 2. My flight is at 0700H and we’re expected to land in Cebu at 0815H. Work will start at 1000H and it will end until God knows when. I’m leaving my hiring to my team members in Manila and I hope that it will be smooth sailing so I could rest early. Special thanks to my team mate who will take over the onshore interview until 0000H of Tuesday.

I’m looking forward to a successful and productive trip! 🙂
